An introduction to healing:
The concept of healing energy, which has many names including ‘life force’, ‘universal energy’ and ‘chi’, is a central tenet of many traditional healing practices including energy and spiritual healing, acupuncture, Reiki and qigong. Practitioners of these practices believe that energy flows through the body along pathways called meridians and that imbalances or blockages in the flow of this energy can cause physical or emotional problems. Healing energy is transferred from the practitioner to the recipient through touch, proximity or more recently, using digital technology connecting people to restore balance and flow to the recipient’s energy field. A healer may use particular hand positions, visualisation and intention to bring about the transfer of energy to the recipient.
Practitioners generally believe in the vital inter-relationship between mental, physical and spiritual aspects of people and that healing energy is applied to bring harmony and alignment between these.
Some investigations into the efficacy of energy healing ascribe part of any measurable benefit as the placebo effect. It is our experience that if the actions of healers encourage elements of the body to heal themselves or affect the brain in such a way as to improve the client’s wellbeing, healing has achieved its aim. Therefore, we prefer that ‘placebo’ should not be used in a dismissive way.
Science is investigating the existence of a healing energy force. Recent laboratory research has established that the energy from a healer’s hands can affect cells, including cancer cells. Energy Healers are now working within a number of cancer wards as it has been found that healing can enhance recovery times and outcomes.
It is important to note that energy healing is not a substitute for medical treatment and should not be used as a sole means of treating any health condition. Healing is intended as an adjunct to conventional medicine, supporting and enhancing.

Our healing services

Hands On Healing:
The healing power of physical human touch has been known for millennia and in our world of digital interaction and global travel, may be more important and effective than ever before. This involves a gentle and powerful one to one session with one of the Sylvan Healing Sanctuary healers who will spend 15 – 20 minutes accessing the healing power through their hands..

Distance Healing:
Can be carried out via zoom, telephone, or without any technology at all but rather by ‘tuning’ in at an agreed time. Absent, or distance, healing is the sending of this same power through the healer via thought rather than through the hands of the healer. Absent healing can be a powerful, effective source of healing over any distance. One of the advantages to distance healing is that it can be carried out whilst you are in the comfort of your own home, allowing for the healing to continue without the interruption of travelling home. If you are wanting to request absent healing for another person, please do get their permission.

Healing for the Terminally Ill:
Where illness is terminal, as, inevitably, it must sometimes be, this type of healing can be of great benefit to provide pain relief, create peace of mind and a state of acceptance and understanding of what is to come. Meditation and Reflective Space:
We hold regular meditation and reflective Space sessions and courses accessed via an online Zoom platform. We shall be inviting, over the coming months, many facilitators to bring you a varied and balanced series of these free talks and guided sessions. Our intention is to provide a quiet space for you to connect with other like-minded people and pursue you own self development and healing journey. All you will need to do is to find a quiet space and either sit or lie quietly and listen to the facilitator. You can access previous sessions by checking our recordings page.
